Welcome to the surreal, dark world of the Set Top Cop. This wiki is committed to exploiting the Internet for those who believe in creativity, democracy and fun little things, like sex, love and great music (yes, rock n' roll is dead).
The Set Top Cop is the evil power that resides inside your consumer appliance. Whether it's the mobile, computer, Internet platform or a combination thereof, digital rights management restrictions are built into your appliances, restricting your freedom.
To steal from our friend, Cory Doctorow, this wiki will engage a "vigorous examination of the public diplomacy at work in the international standards, legal and normative mechanisms by which technology is restricted in the name of protecting copyright and other exclusive rights over knowledge goods.These systems, created at the behest of the American entertainment industry and subsequently exported to the rest of the world, have made great and invisible inroads to every corner of the technological realm."
In English, in the fight between freedom and control, we side on FREEDOM.
